This detailed guide explores the significance, benefits, and ways you can make it part of your daily life.

What Are Morning & Evening Adhkars?

Morning & Evening Adhkars are “specific” supplications recited at the start and end of each day, respectively. These Adhkar are rooted in the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They are designed to fortify spiritual well-being and seek Allah’s protection. Reciting these prayers regularly helps in maintaining a constant connection with the Divine, amidst the daily grind. Allah SWT says in the Holy Qur’an:

“Believers, remember Allah often and glorify Him morning and evening” (33:41-42)

The morning & evening adhkar are a protection from all types of evil. This includes envy, magic, the evil eye and the devils evil plotting. We should try to recite these adhkars with understanding and conviction, on daily basis. There are numerous benefits of Morning & Evening Adhkars.

“From amongst the most rewardable and virtuous forms of remembering Allah are the morning and evening supplications (which are established in the Sunnah). This is because they include all-encompassing forms of protection and benefits. Therefore, whoever wishes to remain secure from all types of calamities in this world, and to enjoy short-term and long-term success — he should hold on tight to these supplications and recite them every morning and evening.” – al-Shawkānī (raḥimahullāh)

What is the time to recite Morning & Evening Adhkars?

The best time for the morning adhkars is between Fajr and sunrise. These set the focus on starting your day with protection and blessings of Allah.

While, the best time for the evening adhkar is between Aṣr and sunset (Maghrib). These aim at seeking forgiveness, seeking protection and numerous other benefits.

However, if you are unable to recite them during the above times, you can make up for them. Do this as soon as possible.

How to incorporate Morning & Evening Adhkars in your life?

Making these Adhkars a daily habit involves a few practical steps to seamlessly integrate these supplications into your life:

  1. Set Specific Times: Allocate specific times each morning and evening for reciting Adhkar. Consistency helps in making these practices a natural part of your daily routine. You need to commit to prioritize it. Otherwise, you will be missing out on what may be the best chance to nourish your soul every day.
  2. Start Small and create a dedicated space: You may start small and read at least a few adhkars every day. Build up your habit slowly (however, you need to be consistent). Moreover, choose a quiet and clean space for your Adhkar. A dedicated spot (like your prayer mat or any comfort zone) enhances concentration and helps in establishing a routine.
  3. Understand and Reflect: Learning the meanings of the Adhkar. Reflecting on their significance deepens your connection. This enhances the impact of your recitation. Remember that these adhkars have the power to grant you unlimited barakah and protection.
  4. Utilize Technology: Leverage Islamic apps and digital reminders to prompt you to recite your Adhkar. These tools can help maintain consistency and provide guidance. You can download a Morning Adhkar PDF from here.
  5. Track your progress: Keeping a journal or a chart is a very effective way to stay motivated. Check off whenever you recite them each day. This will help you keep on track, while keeping you motivated.
  6. Make yourself accountable: Making yourself accountable for some action is a very effective technique used by people to build habits. You may find a friend who also plans to build this habit. You can both tell each other after reciting them. This is a great psychological trip to keep you on track.
  7. Make Dua: The actual purpose of these adhkars is to soften our heart and connect with Allah. We must seek His help to make this beautiful worship a permanent part of our lives.

Integrating Morning and Evening Adhkar into your daily life is a powerful way to seek Allah’s protection & blessings. Making these supplications a regular part of your life is important. It will make you follow a practice cherished by our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
